btw, Noah starts his summer vacation today and Abigail will start hers next Thursday. My plans for this summer:

Potty train Abigail (She was ready but I just couldn't find time in the morning. She'll go to Noah's preschool in November when she turns 2.5 yrs old. So I still get some time);
Move Noah & Abigail to their own new bedroom (Noah needs a new twin bed--Can you believe he still sleeps in his sister's crib!);
Clean up the house (also garage & yards, daddy!) and have a garage sale;
Enjoy the summer and try not to get sunburn!

In March the activities were around Noah's school and Disneyland. We also celebrated three birthdays with family (my mother-in-law, my niece Hannah,and myself) and of course, Easter! Goodbye winter and hello spring!

So glad to see Noah and Abigail were getting along better, as Abigail talked more. I have to admit together they sometimes outwitted me! The kids nowadays are much smarter than they were 25 years ago, but I truly wish they are as happy as we were.

Big Bear (2/27/10~2/28/10)

You might have seen some videos from our big bear trips. Here are the photos. The views were so pretty that it was hard not to include any picture.

Most of our friends left home on Friday, but we left on Saturday. We were concerned about the snow storm warning, but we were glad that we made it because in the morning it only had light snow. As soon as we arrived, the snow started getting heavy. It was so heavy that I could hear the snow falling down. We enjoyed the views very much as the snow stacked up. On Sunday the weather couldn't get any better. It was so sunny that we needed our sunglasses. Thanks to the changing weather, for only two-day short trip we could capture so many different snow views. Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I do.

I hope I'll have at least a couple of postings between the photo recap... I felt bad for Abigail when I read how detailed I blogged about Noah. She is a really special baby just like Noah. Not even 2 years old yet, she can talk very well, sing the songs she only heard a couple times, and jump off from the bed (Can you believe that?). She loves daddy, mommy and her brother very much with a lot of hugs, kisses, food sharing/feeding (she loves to eat, so it's her way to show she cares).

Today after picking Noah up at Liberty Tot Lot (a co-op preschool program he started this year), I asked him what he learned today. He told me letter "Q." Then I asked him which word started with "Q." He answered, "Cucumber!" I think he's learning...

Noah's first day at Liberty Tot Lot (that's why his apron didn't have a name yet). It's so interesting a small group like this can be a little UN.

December was the month full of activities. We had a mini-retreat and celebrated Noah's 4th birthday in SF, Christmas celebration, a snow trip in Palm Springs, and many joyful moments in between.

In December we had a last-minute trip arrangement to NoCal. It was very relaxing and enjoyable vacation which was very unusual with two little kids and 6-hr drive. I'll explain why later.

In this Thanksgiving, please pray for the family of this little baby Catherine. I knew her through my blogger friend Nicole. Catherine was born on November 15th, 2009 with Spina Bifida but did not survive her shunt surgery on Tuesday, November 24th, right before Thanksgiving. No words can express how this family must be feeling right now.

A year ago Abigail had a back surgery and stayed at hospital for seven weeks. Tonight I could tuck both her and Noah in and listen to Danny snore. I'm very thankful for this.

1.5 Years Old

Our Abigail turns one and half years old today! Here's something about her:

She's around 32" tall and weighs around 24 pounds, both about 40-50 percentile (she was born less than 5%, so she's catching up).

What she likes: her brother, sleeping, eating (so far I didn't find any food she doesn't eat, and a lot of times she eats more than Noah), talking (her favorite word for now--"NO!"), singing, running and climbing (constantly moving around), "reading" books (together with playing, chewing, and tearing)

What she dislikes: washing hairs (it should be more but I can't think of any now).

Our Abigail is definitely an active, independent, happy baby girl!

In October one thing notable about Abigail is weaning from pacifier. We used pacifier mostly for 1) getting her to sleep, 2) keeping her quiet (during class, church, etc.), 3) putting her in carseat. One day we decided not to offer it to her when she went to bed, and she did not use it ever since! (she did see it once and cried for it badly)

Abigail got three pacifiers from the hospital exactly one year ago when she had the back surgery and stayed at the hospital for 7 weeks. I haven't thrown them away because they were such good companion during the hospital stay, esp. when her thumb wasn't available due to the IV. (Many, many thanks to the nurse at the hospital for telling me it's much easier to wean the baby off from pacifier than thumb.)

So, the following video is precious to us. Happy Anniversay and Goodbye, Pacie!

In the mid September a new semester began! Noah loves school so much that he still can't understand why he can't go to school every day (only Mon/Wed/Fri). At first I was worried I couldn't handle two kids at the same time in class, but it turned out just fine. Noah is more and more like a big brother so he doesn't need my help that much. I'm glad he's having a great time learning new things (not the crafts though) and making new friends (same with me!). Abigail is also learning a lot of new things. I'm amazed she could sing a lot songs she heard from school! One good thing is she graduated from playing the toilet to playing the sink.

Besides "Cars," Spiderman is currently Noah's favorite cartoon character. He doesn't really know who Spiderman is (never saw the movie) but most of his friends at church like him. He told me he was "red spiderman" and I "black spiderman" (how come I'm the bad guy?) Here are some of his spiderman acts: (his mom is too lazy to bring two kids out in such hot weather so he has to find some ways to entertain himself at home)

Ring Bearer

On July 3 Noah was the ring bearer for the second time (first time click here). Thanks to Dinoco Lightning McQueen, Noah finished walking the aisle very slowly but beautifully (He run the aisle at the rehearsal, so we kept reminding him to walk slowly).

Today's news:

After saying "Happy Mother's Day" and "Happy BOTHER'S Day," Noah finally said it right, "Happy Father's Day!"
Yay! Abigail decided to stop crying at church's nursery! In the passing four weeks, nannies had to call me and ask me to pick her up earlier.
Noah skipped his routine 2-hr nap (he hasn't done that for months). The results: he kept laughing, talking, and doing silly things. Not a good way to celebrate Father's Day though...

Legoland

Since Danny had a week off from work last week, we had a mini vacation at Legoland. I think the park is really neat and it's fun to see all kinds of stuff made of Lego. It is especially designed for younger kids, so Noah could enjoy most of the rides (Abigail also took some rides).

I learned a lot about Lego. Here's a fun fact for you: Six eight-stud Lego bricks of the same color can be put together in 915,103,765 ways. There's a science behind it!

(PS. You can get a good deal at costco.com for 3-month Legoland membership for one-day admission price.)

Here are some pictures from Edward's birthday party at Tri City Park. This park is very special to me because it was one of the first parks I went when I came to US to study more than 10 years ago, and it was where I had my first picnic with my church friends. Even though the park hasn't changed, I just realized how much things had changed around me since then. Thank God for all the blessings he poured on me after all these years--a wonderful husband, beautiful kids, a warm place to live, and caring family and friends...

Parent Education Class

Thanks to my friend Linda for introducing me the parenting program in the nearby adult school. We were very lucky to find an opening--usually the classes were full right after registration began, not to mention we enrolled two months late. Both Noah and I enjoyed the class very much. I could bring Abigail to the class too, and she loved being around with people. I also got the chance to meet many wonderful parents. To my surprise, half of the families in the class are Korean and half of them are pastor's wives (they didn't know each other)!

謝謝Linda介紹我參加社區學校開的親子課程. 我們很幸運能註冊到因為通常全部的課在一開放註冊後即額滿, 更別說我們是晚了兩個月註冊. 嘉信和我很喜歡這堂課. 我也能帶嘉恩去上課, 她很喜歡和大家一起玩. 也有機會認識許多家長. 讓我驚訝的是, 幾乎一半的家庭是韓國人, 而其中一半是牧師的太太(她們彼此不認識)!

Las Vegas with Grandparents

Januray 25~29 we had another trip to vegas. Many friends thought 5 days were too long, but it turned out this vegas trip was the one I enjoyed most. It's because my parents were together with us; besides, I like the hotel we stayed--a two-bedroom condo suite with two baths, kitchen/dining area (best of all it's under $100/per night). With a little research, vegas can be a nice place to bring the little kids to.

一月25~29日我們去拉斯維加斯玩. 許多朋友覺得5天太長了, 但這次賭城之行是我最享受的一次. 原因之一是有我爸媽的同行. 此外, 我很喜歡這次住的旅館--兩房兩衛浴加上廚房/用餐區(每晚不到100美元). 些許的研究會讓拉斯維加斯也值得帶小孩去玩.

Murrieta Hot Springs with Grandparents

January 16~18 we had a family retreat with Danny's mom and my parents at Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Murrieta Hot Springs. It was a short but fun trip. We visited beautiful wineries, dipped in hot springs, enjoyed delicious food, and even went shopping at an outlet on our way back home.

1月16~18我們家和我的爸媽, 凱旭的媽媽到Murrieta Hot Springs玩. 雖然行程很短但還蠻豐富的. 我們參觀了釀酒廠, 泡泡溫泉, 享受美食, 甚至回程還去工廠直營購物中心逛街.

We almost lost Noah's favorite car "Initial D" (Toyota AE86, which is Danny's car for racing) at the outlet. Noah forgot to take the car aboard, but luckily no one took it away. Believe it or not, he holds it when he sleeps and carries it everywhere with him even to the restroom. We have to try very hard not to lose it again. Parenting isn't easy at all!

我們幾乎把嘉信的"頭文字D"(豐田AE86--是凱旭用來賽車的)丟在購物中心. 嘉信忘了拿著車車上火車, 但很慶幸沒人拿走. 信不信由你, 嘉信連睡覺都要拿著它, 隨身攜帶著它甚至去廁所. 我們得更努力不把它弄丟. 帶小孩可真不容易哩!

The 300th Post

This is my 300th post. It's about 100 posts a year--quite impressive! However, is my blog more and more like a photo album? I should put more thoughts on it. A lot of funny things happened daily in our family, but I just couldn't find time to blog... so I hope the pictures serve the purpose during this period of time.

I still can't believe Noah is three years old! In my heart he will always be a baby to me. My eyes get wet when I think of sending him to school in the summer... Really need some time to adjust!

很難相信嘉信已三歲了! 在我心中他永遠是我的小baby. 一想到夏天要送他去上學就有點心酸... 得需要一些時間來調適.

Blowing Bubbles

I just found this video online which has been uploaded on 9/21, the day before we went to the hospital (it was shot a week before). Time passes so fast--now Abigail has passed the stage of blowing bubbles.

剛剛在網路上發現我在9/21(就是在我們入院的前一天)上傳的影片(上傳一週前拍的). 時間過的真快, 嘉恩已過了吹泡泡的階段了.

For some reason Noah doesn't like his hands getting dirty, even though we tell him it's okay. (The video isn't very clear--Noah didn't use his fingers to touch the slide.) It made me think of the following video which was taken two years ago...

Going Home!

After 45-day stay at the hospital, we finally went back to our sweet home yesterday. It's been a long journey and we're very thankful that everything turns out great. The house is messy but I would rather spend more time cuddling my babies!

經過45天的住院, 昨日我們終於回到甜蜜的家. 我們很感恩一切安好. 雖然家裡很亂, 但我寧可多花些時間抱抱我兩個寶貝.

We were so ready to go home! (in the background is the 3nd hospital we stayed. Pretty, right?)

Hospital Stay Isn't That Bad At All

When Daddy was at the hospital, Noah and I went to a boat show at Long Beach.

Noah loves visiting the hospital--eating snacks and watching Wiggles!

Noah enjoyed hanging out with all the roommates (so far we had around 10 different roommates-- from 1 week to 18 years old). He was watching Jesse playing PS, and Abigail was wondering where her brother was...

Abigail will turn 5 months old tomorrow! She starts rolling over couple days ago.

Can't be happier! (although the beepings and wirings were sometims annoying)

She Is A Fighter!

Abigail had a back surgery last Thursday. Through the prayers of friends, she recovered very well. This picture was taken the day after the surgery (I could hold and feed her after she woke up from the anesthesia!) May God be glorified!

Knott's Berry Farm

Instead of renewing our Disneyland annual passes, this time we decided to have Knott's Berry Farm/Soak City's AP. My sister-in-law's family also bought the passes, so we can all go and have some fun together. (Believe it or not, Danny and I love taking "scary rides," but we haven't done it together since I was pregnant with Noah.) Oh, have I mentioned there's no blockout dates and the park is within 3 miles from our home?

我們買Knott's Berry Farm/Soak City主題樂園/水上樂園的年票. 我二嫂全家也買了同樣的票, 所以我們大夥可一起去玩. (你可能不知道我和凱旭很喜歡坐驚險刺激的雲霄飛車. 但自從懷了嘉信後我們都沒有在坐過了) 對了, 我有提到他們的年票包括週末天天都可以用且離家不到5公里嗎?

Fever & 40,000

Our baby girl got sick for the first time! The fever started on Tuesday evening and still goes up and down. I feel so sad to look at her suffering, even though doc ensures us she's okay. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks!

妹妹第一次生病了! 她從星期二晚上開始發燒直到現在還是高高低低的. 雖然醫生確認沒有大礙, 但看小小的她不舒服的樣子真讓我心疼. 請為她代禱. 謝謝!

On a different note, yesterday Noah kept saying "forty thousand" while holding this card. I didn't know where he learned it from (certainly not from Sesame Street's Number of the Day) until my mother-in-law told me Noah watched "Wheel of Fortune" with her one day and the contestant won $40,000! So I asked him, "Do you have $40,000?" and he answered "No" without any hesitation. I guess he knew how much it was...

另外要提的是昨天嘉信拿著這張卡直說"forty thousand"(四萬). 我不知他從那學來的(應該不是從芝麻街學來的), 直到婆婆告訴我嘉信有和她一起看電視節目"Wheel of Fortune"(幸運轉輪), 而當天的冠軍得到四萬元的大獎! 我問他"你有沒有四萬塊?" 他毫不猶豫地回答"沒有". 我想他知道那是多少吧...

Family Retreat

Augest 29~31 our church had a family retreat in Running Springs, CA. Four of us had a wonderful time on the mountains (even though a little busy taking care of two kids). It's not easy to keeping Noah inside our cabin, and again we proofed Abigail loved going out--slept well and cried less!

8月29-31日我們教會在Running Springs有個家庭退修會. 我們一家四口在山上有個愉快的時光(雖然忙於照顧兩個小孩). 要把嘉信留在小木屋裡真不容易, 此外我們再次證實嘉恩喜歡出遊--睡得好哭得少.

Something about Abby:

She sleeps well--already slept thru the night at week 2. Now she sleeps 12-16 hours straight at night (only wakes up for 1-2 feedings).

She smiles a lot--loves smiling us back! (she's the only one who has dimples in our family)

She "talks/sings"--good at imitating the sounds she hears (thanks to her brother for singing all day long)

She loves looking around--her big eyes say it all! Oftentimes I found her eyes following me around.

She cries loud--She can cry tears in seconds. The cry is so loud that we don't even need to use a monitor. The good news is it's getting better as we learn how to decode it (most of the time she's tired and ready for another nap).

We were too busy with our two kids to find time to blog. In short, our house is full of laughters and tears (the latter is mostly from Abigail) and each day is a new day for discovery. Here are some pictures to share:

"Noah" & "Abigail"

"Noah": This Hebrew name's original meaning is "comfort" (cf. Genesis 5:29). The story of Noah from the Bible is in Genesis Ch. 6-9.

"Noah": 此希伯來文名字的原意是"安慰"(參創世記5:29). 聖經創世記6至9章記載關於挪亞的故事.

"Abigail": Also a Hebrew name. The original meaning is "Father's joy." The story of Abigail can be found in 1 Samuel Ch. 25.

"Abigail": 也是個希伯來文名字. 意思是"父親的喜樂". 亞比該的故事記載於撒母耳記上第25章.

btw, Noah's Chinese name is "嘉信" (wonderful faith) and Abigail's is "嘉恩" (wonderful grace). They are inspired by Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."

此外, Noah的中文名字是"嘉信", 而Abigail是"嘉恩". 這兩個名字是由此經文所啟發: "你們得救是本乎恩，也因著信；這並不是出於自己，乃是神所賜的." (以弗所書2:8)

Last weekend was so hot that we decided to go to Seal Beach at the last minute.

因上週末非常熱, 我們臨時決定到Seal Beach走走.

In order to teach Noah to be responsible, we let him share the housework. Helping daddy throw the trash was one of his favorites. I love watching the "seriousness" shown on his face while he's doing it.

為了教導嘉信負責任, 我們讓他分擔家務. 幫爸爸倒垃圾是他最喜歡做的家事之一. 我很喜歡看他做事時認真的表情.

Note: Remember I mentioned about our 10+ times faster cable service without any reason? Mystery solved: we didn't know our area's service provider had been changed until we received the bill from the new company. The best part is they voluntarily offer us promotional rate ($10 a month) for a whole year! Hooray!

備註: 還記得我曾提過我們的網路速度沒有理由的快了十多倍? 謎底揭曉: 直到新的帳單寄來才知我們地區已換另一家公司來提供網路服務. 不錯的是他們自動提供一年的促銷(一個月$10).

We met our old friends Tim and Linda at Costco, with their FOUR kids (you heard me right), Katherine, Grace, Annabel, and Theodore. Tim and Linda are one of the best couples I've ever known. We got a lot of helpful parenting advices from them.

Here Come the Waves!

Last Friday we got a chance to go to the beach with the Wang family (with their newest addition, Isaiah, the 2nd son--I can't believe I forget to take a picture of him!). I thought Noah would be afraid of the waves according to our previous experiences, but it turned out he couldn't stop chasing the waves!

上星期五我們和Charles一家(包括他們最新的成員二兒子"永安"--唉呀, 我竟然忘了幫他照張相!)去海邊走走. 依上次的經驗我以為嘉信會怕海浪, 沒想到這次是他無法停止追浪!

Feeling A Little Down Today...

55 days left? Feeling a little overwhelmed today... Am I mature enough to be a mother of two? Yesterday I had a nightmare: I lost my temper and yelled at Noah. I didn't remeber the details but the frightened look on Noah's face... The dream was so intense that I still feel chilled when I think of it now... It's a good reminder and I pray that God give me love and patience from above and the wisdom from Him to raise my kids, so thru our love they can know God loves them very much.

Have I mentioned the original meaning of "Noah" is comfort? I feel like to put some Noah's pictures to cheer myself up!

只剩下55天了? 感覺有點不知所措... 我夠不夠成熟做兩個孩子的媽? 昨晚我作了個惡夢: 我失去控制對嘉信大吼大叫! 我不記得細節, 但記得他嚇到的表情... 這個夢是如此強烈, 使我此刻想起仍感到一陣涼... 這是個很好的提醒, 我禱告求神能給我從上頭來的愛心和耐心, 以及從祂而來的智慧來教養我的孩子, 使他們能藉由我們的愛體會到神非常地愛他們.

我有提過Noah這名字的原意是"安慰"? 我想放些嘉信的照片來安慰自己一下!

Ring "Bear"

March 29, 2008 was a big day--the day KC and Amy becoming husband and wife and the day Noah being a ring bearer for the very first time (hopefully not the last time...). I called him "ring bear" instead because it was about nap time and he kept running around like a bear!

2008年3月29日是個大日子--是冠志和男惠成為夫妻也是嘉信第一次做戒童的日子( 希望不是最後一次...) 我稱他為"戒熊"是因為午睡時間到了他就像隻熊一直跑來跑去!

This picture was taken at the banquet. KC and I are close friends because we've known each other for almost 10 years! Don't you think we look like brother and sister?

We were very proud of Noah--he kept sitting on the high chair for 3 hours (eating 10-/12-course meal, playing Thomas, ice, soda bottles, etc, etc.)!

(Note: Look at my 7-and-half-pregnant belly. Two months to go!)

我們很以嘉信為傲--他坐在高腳椅上長達3小時(享用十來道菜, 玩小火車, 冰塊, 汽水瓶....)!

Happy Easter

How did our family celebrate Easter this year? We started with a garage sale (yes, you read it right) on Saturday. Why a garage sale? Not only to clean out some space for our second baby but also to share the good news with the people we met--we passed out little cards with "Jesus has risen!" written on them, together with chocolate eggs and tea bags. At the end only 3 packs were left for three of us! And we sold out almost everything.

今年的復活節我們家如何慶祝呢? 我們星期六在車庫前辦個拍賣, 不光是為第二個孩子清出一些空間, 也利用機會向遇到的人分享復活節的大好消息--我們發給人寫上"耶穌已復活"的小卡片加上巧克力蛋和茶包. 最後恰好只剩下三包給我們三人! 東西也差不多賣光了.

Thanks to my sister-in-law's help. We made a great team!

謝謝大姊的幫忙. 我們是最佳拍擋!

The view was nice--the tall pine trees, a cute little boy driving AE86, and a hardworking daddy washing the car.

視野很不錯--有高高的松樹, 有可愛的小男孩在開頭文字D, 還有勤勞的爸爸在洗車.

On Easter Sunday, our Sunday school teachers prepared a egg hunt for younger children. After opening the egg, Noah just kept the chocolate egg and threw the eggshell and stickers away. He almost ate the chocolate with the wrap.

星期天教會的主日學老師為小朋友安排復活節尋蛋活動. 在打開蛋之後, 嘉信把蛋殼和貼紙丟在地上, 只留下巧克力蛋. 他幾乎要把包裝紙一同吃下去了.

Driving Coupe with "Head"

Suddenly our low-speed cable service is 10+ times faster, and I'd better upload more videos before it slows down again. Hopefully it won't slow down until the delivery (my due date is 5/30/08).

This video shows you how Noah drives with his head. It's nice to wear a hooded sweatshirt when driving.

Today I turn 34! What's so special about today that Danny wears a suit with a bowtie?

今天我滿34歲! 有何特別之處? 是凱旭穿西裝打領結嗎?

Danny sang with the Easter Choir (that's why he looks so handsome). What a great way to celebrate!

凱旭加入復活節詩班獻詩(這是為何他穿得這麼帥). 多麼特別的慶祝!

The most thankful thing this year: I'm pregnant with a baby girl! This ultrasound was taken on 3/12/08. Isn't she beautiful? (Note: The bubbles near her mouth are the images of the umbilical cord. I thought she was blowing bubbles!)

今年我最感恩的一件事: 我懷了女兒! 這張超音波是3/12/08照的. 她真是漂亮! (註: 靠近她嘴巴附近的泡泡是臍帶的影像. 我還以為妹妹在吹泡泡呢!)

I'm Good!

Even though in hairdressing I'm not as good as Danny, I'm the queen in the parking department! (Did I mention my husband is into track auto racing? That gives me a lot of credits!!!) Thanks to my 5-year manual driving experience in Taiwan--the 14th most densely populated country in the world (cf. US ranking the 180th).

btw, thanks to Danny for taking care of Noah at home when I go to see a doctor, so not only I can have some time to myself but also can practice my parking skills.

雖然在剪髮上我不像凱旭那麼有天份, 但我的停車技術可不是蓋的! 這還得歸功於我在台灣有五年開手排車的經驗(台灣是世界人口密度排行第14高的國家, 相較於美國第180名).

在這裡要特別感謝凱旭在我去看醫生時在家照顧嘉信, 因此我不但可以自個清閒一下, 也可以好好練習我的停車技術.

6-Month Pregnant?

OC Reunion
